Population      



Turkey has a population predominantly composed of young-aged people. General Census 2012 results show that 75 million 627 thousand 384 people live in Turkey.

There are 37 million 671 thousand 216 females and 37 million 956 thousand 168 males. 30 % of the population is constituted by 0-14 age group, 64.4 % by 15-64 age group, and only 5.6 % by 65+ group. However, 0-14 age group in European Union countries constitutes 17.2 % of the population, which is half the rate in Turkey; and 65+ group constitutes 15.7 % of the total population, which is three times as the rate in Turkey.
