Karamik Sedge

This is a fresh water swamp in Cay town of Afyon. Little Bittern and Ferruginous Duck (10 couples) populations brought important bird area status in to this region. Appropriate criteria: B2

Aksehir and Eber Lakes

This region is the fresh water lake and swamp area between Bolvadin, Cay, Sultandagi, Aksehir, and Tuzlukcu towns of Afyon and Konya. This region is an important breeding area for Pygmy Cormorant and Dalmatian Pelican (a few couples). Herons breed in the sedge islands of Aksehir Lake in mixed colonies including Squacco Heron, Purple Heron, Glossy Ibis and Spoonbill. Ferruginous Duck and Gull-billed Tern incubate on sand islands within sedges, and Greater Sand Plover incubates around the lake. In winter, many White - Fronted Gooses are seen in this area. This area gained important bird area status as being a stopover for Alan, White Pelican and Glossy Ibis during migration.
