Fethiye is ideal for nature addicts and those interested in water sports with pleasant and unpolluted bays. Oludeniz (Dead Sea) has a fair reputation with its warm and crystalline-pure sea. Fethiye and its neighborhood host numerous historical buildings dating back to ancient civilizations, especially Persians, Lykians, Carias, and Romans.

Fethiye holiday resort which is a popular tourism center with local bazaars, charming houses that have been restored is situated at a lovely bay. Crusader Castle Ruins constructed by Rhodes knights is situated on a hill having a small port. Rock tombs dating from the Lykia Civilization on the rocky part of the hill has an appearance as if it was tried to design the facades of old buildings in an interesting and recent style. Fethiye, which has a fairly developed tourism infrastructure, offers perfect opportunities for congress tourism when first-class hotels and holiday villages in nearby holiday resorts especially in Sarigerme are added to accommodation facilities. Fethiye, which is one of the tourism centers of Turkey with its historic and cultural richness, natural beauties and geographical location, is assertive in terms of congress tourism.


Highway: Buses directly ply from all major cities.

Airline: Fethiye is at a distance of 55 km from the International Dalaman Airport.

Sea route: Ships ply to Marmaris. And highway transportation is available from Marmaris to Fethiye.

Brief Historical Account

Fethiye, which used to be a coastal city on the border of Lykia and Caria, was called Telmessos in the Antique Ages. According to the oldest written documents, it can be said that the city exists since 5th century BC. Telmessos survived as a free city and apart from Lykia for a long time. The city stayed under the control of the Persians, Alexander the Great, Romans, Pergamum Kingdom, Byzantine, Menteseogullari clan and Ottoman Empire.


The Mediterranean climate where summers are hot and dry and winters are mild and rainy is dominant in the area. The temperature which is around 30 degrees in summers is usually over 10 degrees in winters. The temperature of sea water is never below 16 degrees in any season.

Archeology Museum, Lykia Rock Tombs, Kayakoy (Kaya Village), Cadianda, Pinara, Tlos (Yakakoy), Letoon, Xanthos, Patara, Kaunos, Sidyma, Yakapark, Oludeniz (Dead Sea), Gemili Island, Calis Beach, 12 Islands, Gunluk, Katranci, Gocek, Araxa, Telmessos Antique Theatre, Cezayirli Mosque, Eski (Old) Mosque, Fethiye Bath, Fethiye Inns, Fethiye Castle, Saklikent Canyon are worth seeing. Gocek located on the north of Fethiye Gulf is a place that is preferred with its islands, caves, insatiate beauties and a famous yacht center which has four marines. There are antique cities such as Arymasa, Lissae, Krya, Kalimache around Gocek.

In addition to heaven-like beaches and antique cities, a forest, waterfalls and hundreds of butterfly species are waiting for guests. Kelebekler (Butterflies) Valley that can be accessed from Olu Deniz (Dead Sea) is wonderful especially in June and October.

Besides paragliding and diving, it is possible to do canoe sports and rafting at Esen Brook.


Restaurants and cafes serving every kind of tastes from the Mediterranean cuisine to the Turkish cuisine are available in Fethiye.


Rock carpets woven by local villagers, clothes with grape motifs, columns made of hair and wool, saddlebags and sacks, black weaver rugs can be bought from Fethiye bazaars and markets.


Visit and see Olu Deniz (Dead Sea).
Go to Kelebekler Valley.
Eat fish in Gocek.
See Kayakoy (Kaya Village).
Buy musical instruments such as Uc Telli (three-bowed), Sipsi (a little oboe) and Kabak (Gourd) Violins made in Fethiye.
Watch Turkish nights where local instruments are played and dancers attend to.
Stay at tents made of hair in the plateau.
