Kurshunlu Mosque

(Mosque with Bullets) – (Kulliye of Bridegroom Ibrahim Pasha): kulliye was done by Bridegroom Ibrahim Pasha in 18th century and consists of mosque, library, primary school, soup kitchen and Turkish bath. It is decorated with engraving signs that is characteristic to Tulip period.

Haci Bektash Lodge and Kulliye

Haci Bektash is a famous Turkish-Muslim thinker who had lived in 13th century. Haci Bektash, who had high intellectual level and personality, gained his knowledge from great Turkish spiritual guide Hoca Ahmet Yesevi. He possessed a great general philosophy life and lived in Horasan where knowned Turkish thinkers grew up. Haci Bektash had traveled everywhere around Middle Anatolia and educated many thinkers by founding Islam belief and principles Center.

Lodge and kulliye

(Haci Bektash) in the following years new buildings were added to Kizilca Halvet (Cilehane) done by Haci Bektash in 14th century.

Tomb of Haci Bektash

(House of spiritual Guide): the front of tomb was made up of three arched balconies placed side by side. Entry to the house is through the door with iron railings under the middle arch.

Tokali Church (Goreme)

This church is situated in Goreme Valley and is the biggest rock made one in this region. Church consists of 4 places. It is an old church with single nave. The new church is under older one and side chapel is to the North of the new church. Old church which dates the beginning of 10th century is original; even it seems entry place of the New Church today. The new church is of simple cradle vouch and rectangular planned, horizontally.

Monks and Nuns Monastery (Goreme)

Six o seven storied rock mass to the left of entrance of Goreme Open Air Museum is known as “nun’s monastery”. The dining room, kitchen and some of the room on the first floor, together with destroyed chapel on the second floor are in the position to stroll through the church on the third floor can be reached through a tunnel.

St. Basil Chapel (Goreme)

Goreme is at entrance of Open Air Museum. It dates 11th century. There are portraits of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and child Jesus, holy Theodor and image of holy George on a horse fighting with dinosaur.

Elmali Church (Goreme)

Goreme is simple planned church in the Open Air Museum. Geometric decorations made in iconoclastic period were found from the bottom of frescoes saved up to now. It is understood that the church was in use also in 2period. The frescos of the church, from which the church got its name, come from apple gardens around dates 2nd century.

Cavushin Church (Goreme)

The church is in the 2, 5 km distance from Goreme along the Goreme-Avanos road. It is a single-naved and cradle vaulted. It has three abscissas and its narthex was destroyed. Cavushin built in the name of Emperor Nice phones Phocas dates 964-965 years.

Yilanli Church (Goreme)

It is in Goreme Open Air Museum. The church where images of Holies, who are much esteemed in Kapadokya, exist belongs to 11th century.

Karanlik (Dark) Church (Goreme)

It is in Goreme Open Air Museum. The only light its narthex gets is through a small window. So it is too dark inside. Because of this it is known as Karanlik (Dark) Church. The church is fully decorated with frescoes. It is the church with the most undamaged frescoes in this region.

St. Catherine Chapel (Goreme)

Both narthex and naos in St. Catherine Chapel are situated between Dar Church and Carikli Church that are crosses-planned and have central domes. It was decorated with pendent swollen geometrical shapes.

Carikli church (Goreme)

It is in Goreme Open Air Museum. It is though to be called as “Carikli Church” because of footprints existing under the scene of St. Jesus rising to the sky. The church dates to the end of XI and beginning of XII century. Siklus describing St. Jesus life the Torah scene showing hospitality of Prophet Ibrahim and images of St. Banr were well preserved.

Saint Barbara Chapel (Goreme)

It is behind the blocks of rocks where Elmali Church exists. The rich geometric motifs , mythological animals and military symbols were painted on the walls and domes. The Church dates the second half of II century.

Durmus Kadir Church (Goreme)

The Church in the form of basilica is made up of both large and small graves carved on the walls in the first compartment of, Pastor’s throne in the center, large rectangular columns and place for baptism. The church possessing the best examples of rock relief decorations dates VI and VII centuries.

El-Nazar Church (Goreme)

It is in the El-Nazar valley. The Church dates X century.

Sakli (Hidden) Church (Goreme)

It was named as Sakli Church, because it was discovered in1957. The church is near the El-Nazar Church. Images decorating the Church were made directly on the main rocks, rather than on plasters. Around the church colored clothes were found. After analyzing these clothes it had been became clear that, they had been used as brushes during the painting of the church.

Kiliclar (Swords) Church (Goreme)

The church was decorated with rather rich frescoes. It dates the end of IX and the beginning of X centuries.

The Virgin Mary Church (Swords Midmorning Church-Goreme):

It is located on the steep slope to the south of Sword Church. The Church includes the figures of saints and four scenes of Evangel cycles.

Saint Eustathios Church (Goreme)

It is located between Tokali Church and the Virgin Mary Church. There are frescoes originating from Evangel. In the church dating the beginning of X century exists the date “1148-1149” written by engraving technique.

Church of Tats (Acigol)

The church is located on the slope of the hill where tats had underground city. The scenes on rather well protected frescoes were separated by concretes from each-other.

Tagar Church (St. Theodora Church-Urgup)

The gallery located on the upper floor can be accessed by stairs. Because of this, it is the single and only example among Kapadokya churches. The church with well protected frescoes had been decorated by three artists in three different styles. The church built in the name of St. Theodora dates XI-XIII centuries.

Saint Jean Church (Goreme)

The church is two-floored. There are wine cellars, water channels and graves on the ground floor. The upper floor is a church with walls decorated with scenes taken from Evangel.
