Pınargozu Cave

Geographical Location and Arrival

The cave is located at 11 km. west of Yenisarbademli District of Isparta Province in the Caydere Forest. It can be reached from Yenisarbademli at the west coast of Beysehir Lake or via the Egirdir-Yenice road or Sarkikaraagac-Yenisarbademli road.


As regards to the 16 km. part of the cave which has been discovered before, Pinargozu Cave is the longest cave of Turkey and it is the one which has the coldest water with a 4-5ºC temperature. The environment of the cave is one of the very few and rich places of the earth in various kinds of vegetations. It was determined that 213 plant species exist on the area. Besides, there is a 600 aged Pine tree nearby the entrance of the cave.

The Pinargozu Cave and spring is a natural wonder. The domestic and foreign speleologists have done many researches for long years on this cave included in World’s Cave Literature.

With the siphon which is only 50 m. away from the entrance and with the waterfalls and travertine having long siphons to climb, Pınargözü Cave is a hard cave to wander about. The developmaent of this cave is still in progress. It is difficult to tour the cave because of the siphons, waterfalls that require climbing and travertine. Beginning from the entrance it is inevitable to pass through the siphon without diving. The air circulation which has a speed that reaches 150-160 km/hour and the cold water that is 5.8ºC even in August makes the work of the researchers harder. Despite everything, cave researchers find the place rather interesting and new sections of the cave are discovered by the foreign researchers every year.

Zindan Cave

The cave is located inside the Aksu Creek Valley that is 2 km. northeast of Aksu District. The road passes in front of the Zindan Cave following the bank of the creek and leading to the plateaus above. The cave can be reached via this road by all sorts of vehicles including bus.


The cave has a total length of 760 m. The cave which is known and used since the Roman period is horizontal and semi active. The Lakes Region in which the Zindan Cave is situated is one of the densest karstic areas of Turkey. The floor of the cave is covered with soil and rock blocks right from the beginning. Here is the section that bats live in summer and winter.

Inonu Cave

Geographical Location and Arrival

The cave is located at the northern slope of Inonu Hill which is 1.5 km south of Sariidris Village. The cave can be reached from the village by tractor.


The cave with a total length of 227 m. is horizontal and dry. In seasons with precipitation, small ponds are formed inside some of the branches of the cave. The cave is usually dry. The temperature inside the cave is 16ºC. And the humidity is 82%.

Inonu Cave has developed among the cracks that go in various directions inside the Jura-Cretase aged limestone sitting like a skullcap on the Inonu Hill. Dolomite and Trias aged Marian layers under the limestone layer. The cave could not develop deeper because of these non-karstic layers.

Inonu Cave had been developed horizontally in the form of narrow galleries starting from the entrance. There is a large saloon at the entrance section only. Here, there is a thick ground layer with numerous skeleton parts in it. So, it is understood that this section of the cave is used either for settlement or as a burial ground. Most of the galleries are empty, but there are numerous dripstone formations in some branches.

The cave is known by the local people for a long time past and a lot of skeleton pieces were discovered at an area close to the cave entrance. No researches on this matter had been done yet.

Kuz Cave

Geographical Location and Arrival

Kuz Cave located at the steep slope of the Koprucay Canyon is near the Asar Hill at the southwest of Kesme Town in Sutculer District of Isparta Province. It is possible to reach up to the edge of the canyon from the town by tractor or any other land cruiser in 15-20 minutes. However, one can descend into the cave at the middle levels of canyon that has a depth of 700-750 m. by foot in about half an hour. This downward walking way is very hard and dangerous.


The cave with a total length of 224 m. has the deepest point at 17.5 m. in respect to the entrance. The cave has a hot and semi dry air. There is an obvious air circulation at the narrow passages and side branch connection.

The width of the cave changes between 2-16 m. and the height of the ceiling changes between 1-20 m. The middle and final sections of the cave are covered with various gorgeous shapes of dripstones (stalagmite, stalactite, pillar, wall and cover dripstones, dripstone pools, etc.) There is a thick sand and a pebble depot at the end of the main gallery. These are the deepest sections of the cave. On the contrary, the final point of the side branch separated from these depots is + 10 m. above the entrance.

Kuz Cave situated in 250-300 m. above the river bed is a fossilized cave hydrologically remained in suspense (vadoz zone). Therefore, it is completely dry except for the dripping or leaking water in seasons with precipitation. These waters form small ponds at the end of the main gallery.

Ayiini Cave

Geographical Location and Arrival

Ayiini cave located at 15 km. northeast of Yalvac is situated on the southern skirts of Sultan Mountains lying above Nazilli River. The cave which is 20-30 m. above the valley floor is reached by two stabilized roads both from Yalvac and Ozguney Towns.


The cave with a length of 407 m. developed horizontally and is fossilized cave with a spring situation. It has a cold and semi humid air. The fact that the cave has a cracked structure and that it consists of two storeys had caused an air circulation inside the cave.

No specific animal group is found inside the Ayiini Cave. But there are rarely bats living in different sections.

Ayiini Cave is suitable for the touristic purposes because of both the natural beauty around the cave and the interesting dripstone and cistern formations inside. It is impossible to encounter especially the cisterns found in different sections of the cave. Also, the protection walls present in some parts of the cave makes it more attractive.
